Grace After Fire

 Volunteers

Servicemembers know how to get a job done, and if you REALLY want something done right ask a woman! Ask a woman veteran that knows life from all sides, and all experience – good and not so good. When the call to action went out, these women stepped to the plate, reached inside and gave of themselves, their heart and their souls to make sure that when the world opened up to women veterans across the country, Grace After Fire was ready. Here are few of our Grace Volunteers to greet you, ladies – Welcome, one and all, to Grace After Fire.

 Ms. HRA916

USN 01'-04' OIF/OEF (9-2001 to Present)
Hailing from the State of New Jersey!

What I like about Grace:
A place for women vets to feel safe and not ashamed.

What I hope women find when they arrive:
I hope women vets can find the info and support they need.

Something about me:
I am just me and that is all I will ever be.

 Ms. NavyVet

USN Korea to Vietnam (9/1955 to 7/1964) and Vietnam Era (7/1962 to 5/1975)
Hailing from the State of Washington!

What I like about Grace:
I can say what is on my mind and I can listen and see the heartache of those that came after me. I would hope to see some Korean era vets on. would love to learn from them

What I hope women find when they arrive:
women that like them, no matter how ornery they are or how lost they are. It's a comradeship that passes from one service to another and one generation to another

Something about me:
I'm MEAN until you get to know me.

 Ms. VietnamPT

USA Vietnam (1966-1978)
Hailing from the State of Virginia!

What I like about Grace:
Being able to reach those of us who have lived the best and worst of humanity

What I hope women find when they arrive:
Peace. Love and acceptance for doing the right thing for our country

Something about me:
Scarred and still healing, I am coming to another crossroads in my life. I am looking for a passion to fill the next chapter. After my return, there was no one - I truly believe that there were people out there - I just could not find them. I want to be found, to help another soldier heal those soul wounds and live to help others.

 Ms. loadmasterc5

Air Force 1973-1977, Air Force Reserve 1979-1991
Hailing from the State of Washington!

What I like about Grace:
It's awesome. I have never felt so connected to my fellow female vets.

What I hope women find when they arrive:
A place they can meet and make friends, find advice and support, or just share the funny things that happen in our lives.

Something about me:
Was recalled to active duty for Desert Storm. One of only 75 women qualified as aircrew on C5. One of less than 20 female C5 loadmasters at that time.

 Ms. Shayden

Army, OIF/OEF (3-2003 to 5-2008)
Hailing from the State of Texas!

What I like about Grace:
I can be completely vulnerable and open, knowing my sisters-in-arms understand and care.

What I hope women find when they arrive:
A home away from home with the ability to face their struggles while relating to others.

Something about me:
Public Affairs NCOIC for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division; 110 Soldiers were killed from my brigade

 Ms. Mom6

Army, Post-Vietnam (5-1975 to 9-1991)
Hailing from the State of Oregon!

What I like about Grace:
It is a place that I can find support without judgment. I can find ladies that have been there and done that and survived. I have been able to open up about things that I have not been able to talk to about with anyone else in my life. It is an important part of my support system.

What I hope women find when they arrive:
A place that they can find a safe supported environment where they can gain a healthy perspective of what they are working on.

Something about me:
I have been married for 28 years, have six children, three grandchildren, and I have been able to finish a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling; want to continue in school to get my Doctoral degree in Counseling.

 Ms. RakkChic

What I like about Grace:
Grace After Fire is a supportive environment for women vets. Other sites can be so full of negativity and examples of negative coping mechanisms, but Grace is totally different.

Two toes on each of my feet are webbed!
