Take care of self
Always make sure that you have some quality alone time or fun time. I deal with alot female vets that have trauma as a peer support person. I found that every once in a while I just take a breather and take care of my own stuff. One thing that I learned that is important is for female vets to know that they are still strong even though trauma has accurred. The hardest part of trauma is recognizing that we can become surviviors and not victims. I found that I remained in a victim mind set for years. when I saw therapist she should me step by step how to get out of it. You can become overwhelmed by women who remain in this mind set and never get out of it. They dont know what else to do because the VA system hasnt given them adquate therapy. I went on the outside of the system and got alot of help. from a non profit organization.
