Angry Homeless Female Veteran Injured and Peace officer did not render aid

Most veteran woman are attempting to support other veterans male and female in the issues they face.I would like to share the circumstances of a female veteran.
A homeless female veteran faces the typical issues being on the street. This one slept out side at a facility made for homeless to sleep outside in warm weather.A male homeless client attempted to sexual assault her by having unlawful unwanted body contact wiith her as she sleep at this facility. As her week went on she was waiting to transfere at at public transit train station. As she stood there a escalating verbally assaut was atking place on a young pregnant girl who look close to her babies due date (very pregnant). This female veteran knew the graphic words being used were inciting potential for physical violence as stated by the other group of teen girls.Any one near this escalating arguement would have reason to believe the promise to assault the pregnant girl was not just a threat. This veteran female went to the train station knocked on the door for the tranist police to help She knew it would be too dangerous for her to intervene. The transit police went to the two groups of girls. In the mean time the female veteran just wanted to board her bus and get out of the middle of any potential violence. The bus hydraulic lift malfunctions and falls on this veterans womans foot. The veterans woman is waving her hands to alert the bus driver but the driver does not look her way.The same tranist police walks up tells the driver she has the hydraulic lift on the foot of this veteran. The veteran states she was in some tupe of shock and it felt like electricity going through her body. She states the pressure of the hydraulic lift was off the scale of 1-10.The driver and transit police wittnessed the accident. They knew their equipment malfunctionsed yet neither public transit employee-public servant rendered aid to the injured vet.Traumatized by the potential of violence and the injury this veteran was in shock. The tranist police and the driver left the scene. The tranist police the driver did not even follow company policy. We believe the state law provides that no sworn peace officer should leave the scene of an injury accident involing a human. yet these two employees public servants did.The transit company refuses to take responsiblity and has treated this veteran disposable and minimized the injury and suffering the veteran endured as a result of their malfunctioning equipment. What happen to protect and serve and render aid when you wittness a accident injury. Neither public servant reported the injury accident nor called EMS for this injured vet.

Thumbs up homeless woman veteran accident injury

The public transit company sent this veteran through hoops and still refuse to take responsibility. This veteran suffered four additional falls because of the injury by the hydraulic lift on the bus.The driver and the transit police officer lied said it never happen. The driver and the transit police never followed company procedure for accidents/injuries.Both wittnessed the veterans injury but walked away. This senior veteran has additional injuries because of the hydraulic lift malfunctioning falling on her foot. This woman veteran has dealt with servere pain and suffering but thank god her foot was not crushed. The risk management supervisor told this veteran to go out locate the driver and the transit police.Unknowingly she did but the two continue to lie.The risk management said they copied over their survielance camera located at the exact site of the accident injury. The bigger issue is the two public servants walked away from a injury accident. We believe Texas law states any sworn peace officer must render aid in accidents/injuries they wittness. The driver also. The transit police and driver find them selves having not filled out accident form required by state law, therefore they have to keep with their lie it never happen. The company and risk management are protecting the lie by taping over the orginal film that would prove the events of the day.The officer did not make a report concerning the violent verbal confrentation with the preganant female. So on this day the driver and transit police willfully disreguarded company policy and state statute (law). Most of all they did not do the compassionate/humane thing which was to render aid to the injured vet woman.

The injured party must seek legal aid. I'm sure she qualifies.

File a report with the police chief/internal affairs for the (transit police). This bus driver and transit officer must be held accountable for their lack of action. If it can be proven that the tape was altered, this raises a credibility question about the story the bus driver and the police are telling. It's not only that this happened to a veteran, but the public is also at risk.

Also I would contact the local news stations (investigative reporters) and have them do a story on this. Once something gets out, folks start getting off their butts.

Cool eagleheart

[I had something similiar happen years ago concerning injury and a police officer igoring it. I was attacked by a cashier. this attack was on tape. I was even asked if I wanted to file charges for battery but told that if I do that I would go to jail. I knew this information was very incorrect. However, the idea of being locked up and how that would impact my PTSD,I knew wouldnt be good. So, based on what triggers this would cause I explained to the police officer I would have to decline to press charges. I walked a way not realizing that my ankle was broken in three different places. They were hair line fractures which allowed me to walk. This is what a VA er found on an xray. I ran the whole gammit going up the chain of command. They dropped any charges that the store had on me when they saw the tape. However, they didnt do anything else like compensate me for a injury that causes me problems to this day. The Law says one thing but to enforce it takes honest people.

Go to jail if you choose to press charges?? Horse crap!!! What probable cause did this officer have to arrest you? He/she did not want to do the paperwork. Why did the cashier behave this way toward you? I ask this because the public is at risk??? I would call the officer on it and press charges. When the police act this way go to their internal affairs or the police chief to file a complaint.

You know women and minorities have more trouble getting the police to do their job than white men do in this country. This is a fact, and in the news all too often. Registered sex offenders keeping girls for 18 years. The stench of death stinking up an entire neighborhood where a sex offender lives, and police do nothing. The neighborhood is blighted.

Women have to know their rights, and a lot about the law. I suggest women go to their local community college or university and take some legal courses. Introduction to law is the most excellent place to begin.

There are more and more minorities taking paralegal courses. I believe they are empowering themselves so they can protect themselves. Is it conscious or unconscious? Either way I don't blame them.

However, there are many good police officers out there who do a great job serving their communities. It's the wayward ones that the public has an obligation to call attention to, and run it up their chain of command.

You have heard of the saying what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas police do not care about homeless women vets or any homeless women. These are the types of police officers that will drag a homless person in a dark alley and beat the living crap out of them so that they understand that homless women are to be not seen and not heard where bussiness is concerned. These police officers will make something up just to arrest you. What stays in Las Vegas is rape culture and a bad indifferent atitude towards battered women. I had a woman get almost straggled to death at my door step. I heard her gasping for air and opened up the door and became a instant hero for saving her life. Thats all it takes is for women to help women. We can save lives.

I second that emotion, Eagleheart. I have had some experience with this. Let's just say that when you have spent any time being cold, hungry and sleepless from hyprevigilance until you pass out...no place to take a crap or get a shower...not even talking about the sisters who drink or do drugs to self-medicate cuz they have no access to care...your self-esteem and ability to fight back is pretty low. And Joe Citizen is going to look at you and Mr. Upstanding Police Offficer ...or gainfully employed bus driver...back to you...who is he going to believe? I agree that education is empowering...but if you are in the shoes of a homeless, desperate person that option is way over the horizon. Your priority is to stay alive, find food and shelter and avoid the crazies and the violent (cop or otherwise). The cops aren't there to protect you. They are there to protect the better off and businesses FROM you.

I like the way you write. I am not homeless. I use to be. I am describing some of the experinces I went through. You did a wonderful job at describing homelessness.I am a activist for homeless female vets in Las Vegas. I started many suppport groups for female vets in Las Vegas because I dont want to see any female vet go through the homeless existance I went through for 4 years. The worse city for any woman to go homless is in Las Vegas.
