Post Female Vet Sticker

I just received in the mail a new sticker for my car. This one says Female veteran so that others might stop asking me where my husband served. I was tired of others thinking that it was my husband in the service rather than myself. Maybe this new sticker will end some of the gender descrimination I receive. We'll see.

Where did you find the sticker?

It's odd how people think sometimes. I have a tattoo of the Army star on the back of my lower leg. An older gentleman saw it the other day and asked me if I was a Houston Astro's fan. My sister was with me when this happened. She was very quick to correct his misunderstanding and proudly told him that I was in the Army. I'm glad she was there, in retrospect I would have probably just said that no, I'm not a fan of the Astro's. He would have went on his way not understanding that women serve too.

Default happens all the time

When stuff like that happens to me I have to think about if I want to take the easy way out and let it go or do I educate the person and let them know I served. Sometimes it is not worth it but most of the time I stand and educate but it does get frustrating. Keep standing up and educatng the only way to get the word out

Default Thanks

Thanks for the information Railroad and Mom6. I'll check out the site.

I will make it a point to educate the ignorant about women in the military. Maybe I'll help another person out down the road. It gets old when we're not taken seriously. Out of frustration I think I have just let people think what they will.

Default Education is hard

Trying to educate people that do not want to be educated is hard. And have to educate people all the time is frustating and time and energy consuming but t is the only way to get people to see us and understand that we are there and need to be recognized for what we did and what we stand for.

For the web site. Yes, people think it is only men that are the veteran's. I have the license plate and I'm sure people think it is my husband that served in the Gulf. Tee-hee, a female vet sticker might help~~I always get that....you were in the Army??? You were in Desert Storm??? People don't realize just how close to combat us women who serve are. And that we can do the jobs that men do.
