ALFI is committed to supporting and advocating for women Veterans. In furtherance of this, ALFI is working to develop a partnership with Dallas-area-based nonprofit Grace After Fire, an organization dedicated to supporting and advocating on behalf of women Veterans.
In part due to Grace After Fire’s efforts, and at the urging of Texas State Senator Jane Nelson, the Texas State Legislature designated March as Women Veterans’ Month in the State of Texas. To mark this occasion, Grace After Fire hosted their inaugural Women Veterans Summit in Dallas on Saturday, March 3, 2012, hoping to tap into the needs of women veterans.
ALFI’s Monica White and Debbie Pryor attended the summit.ALFI CEO Jack Pryor has met with Grace After Fire President and CEO Kim Olson, a retired United States Air Force Colonel who was one of the first female pilots in the Air Force. ALFI and Grace After Fire are discussing ways in which they can work together including sponsorship of a forum later in 2012, in San Antonio, Texas. The purpose of the forum would be to focus on the needs of women veterans with respect to health care, rehabilitation, compensation, outreach, homelessness, mental health, jobs, education, training, and others issues.
