As Founder and Executive Director of the nationally-based nonprofit The Woman’s Heart, Ms. Moles is dedicated to the mission of providing those suffering from addictions with the most accessible, affordable, and innovative relapse prevention education and resources available. She seeks to increase social acceptance and community integration through community collaborative efforts across state, local, and recovering community agencies. Ms. Moles’ current focus is women veterans’ recovery, peer support, and social networking as adjuncts to therapy, with incentives to continue services utilizing Telehealth/eHealth to increase access to healthcare. Ms. Moles has over 16 years experience in corporate business in San Francisco-based Venture Capital Firms and the Intel Corporation IT & Marketing Divisions creating and implementing operational efficiency strategies, managing critical change situations for transition and developing initiatives for increased production. Her background includes extensive experience and expertise in the fields of marketing and communications, psychology, group dynamics, and public relations. In addition to managing and directing a nationally based nonprofit since 2002, Ms. Moles has directly mentored women of all ages through the transformative process from addiction to recovery for over twenty years. She has been instrumental in providing intervention, re-intervention, education, community mobilization, and increased access to healthcare services. Memberships include the National Association of Addiction Treatment Professionals, National Association of Children of Alcoholics, Global Business Women, and previously appointed by the Governor to the Wyoming State Mental Health Licensing Board.



Larry Ashley

Larry Ashley has been involved in the substance abuse and trauma field for over thirty years as a college professor, researcher, and therapist. He is currently Addictions Specialist and Undergraduate Coordinator in the Department of Counselor Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Director of the Problem Gambling Treatment Program, and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine, University of Nevada School of Medicine. Due to his extensive clinical experience coupled with opportunities for local, national, and international speaking engagements, Professor Ashley is considered to be a leading expert on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and issues related to addictions. He has a special interest on the impact of war on soldiers worldwide. Larry Ashley is currently licensed and certified as an Alcohol & Drug Counselor, and Certified Problem Gambling Counselor.



Tia Christopher

Christopher is a proud US Navy veteran. After leaving the military in 2001, she received her BA in Humanities with a focus in Psychology and currently works at San Francisco’s veteran non-profit Swords to Plowshares, where she serves as the Women’s Veteran Coordinator for the Iraq Veteran Project. In her role she works directly with OIF/OEF women veterans seeking services, and organizes retreats in collaboration with other VSOs for OIF/OEF women veterans. Christopher specializes in policy/advocacy work surrounding Military Sexual Trauma (MST), and issues related to transition, regularly advising congressional staff and members of the media. Christopher speaks nationally on issues facing women veterans, and has testified before the California State Legislature. She also serves as an advisory board member for The Pathway Home: California Transition Center for Care of Combat Veterans. In March 2009, she helped organize an all women veteran gallery art show, with the goal of empowering women who have served. Christopher is the author of You Are Stronger Than You Think You Are: A Straightforward Transition Manual, a Swords to Plowshares’ publication. Originally from Washington State, she currently lives in Oakland, California.




Judi M. Kosterman Judi M. Kosterman, PhD

Dr. Kosterman has more than a decade of experience in developing, implementing and coordinating local, state and national programs specific to the prevention, intervention, and treatment of substance abuse and related issues. Dr. Kosterman held three positions in our nation’s capital. As the Director of the National Center for the Advancement of Prevention (NCAP), she led the effort to bridge the gap between substance abuse prevention research and science, and their practical application in the real lives of Americans. NCAP’s work interfaced directly with the US Departments of Health and Human Services, Education and Justice, and the National Institutes on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (NIAAA). Prior to NCAP, Dr. Kosterman served in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) as a National Policy Advisor and also as a member of the team directing the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign. She also helped open the doors of Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA). Dr. Kosterman holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Addiction Studies from Seattle University.

Dr. Platoni has been a practicing clinical psychologist for 25 years and maintained her private practice in Centerville, Ohio until the time of her third voluntary deployment to active duty Army status in October of 2004. She served as commander of the 1972nd Medical Detachment (Combat Stress Control) at Guantanamo Bay Cuba from 2003-2004, where combat stress control became a critical element of the Joint Task Force mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Global War on Terrorism. Having volunteered to return to active duty within weeks of her redeployment from Joint Task Force-GTMO, Dr. Platoni deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, holding the position of Deputy Commander of Clinical Services for the 55th Medical Company (CSC) in Baghdad and seven subsequent locations, finally as Officer in Charge of Team Ar Ramadi, situated the seat of the insurgency and during times of intensive combat. At the invitation of the 3rd Brigade Commander, 3rd Infantry Division upon the conclusion of her tour of duty in the wartime theater, Dr. Platoni reported to the Home of the Infantry, Fort Benning, Georgia for an additional six month mission in order to provide for the reintegration services of the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment due to elevated numbers of psychological casualties among combat arms soldiers.

Dr. Platoni is a graduate of the School of Professional Psychology of Nova University (now Nova Southeastern University) in Davie, Florida. Subsequent to the conclusion of her doctoral studies under the auspices of the United States Army's Health Professionals Scholarship Program, she completed her internship on active duty Army status at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas in 1984. From 1984 through 1987, she served as Chief of Psychology at DeWitt Army Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. During her 27 years of both active and Army Reserve status, including a six month tour of duty during Operation Desert Storm, Dr. Platoni developed combat stress control, debriefings and crisis management programs utilized throughout the U.S. Army. As a graduate of the Army's Command and General Staff College, she holds the rank of Colonel and is presently assigned to the 307th Medical Group, based in Blacklick, Ohio.


Dr. Platoni holds appointments as Assistant Clinical Professor with the School of Professional Psychology, Wright State University. She is a skilled hypnotherapist and possesses expertise in the sub-specialty areas of behavioral medicine and the treatment of chronic pain and chronic, debilitating, and terminal illnesses. Since the “9/11” tragedy and attacks on the United States, Dr. Platoni also voluntarily deployed to New York City on two occasions in order to provide disaster mental health and critical incident stress debriefing services to members of the New York City Police Department.

LTC Rasmussen has been mobilized for 3 years as a member of the Combat Stress Control Team at the 88th Regional Readiness Command (RRC), the Army Reserve Command for Service Members in six Midwestern states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois). This team is organized to care for the mental health needs of the service members and families in the region during the entire deployment cycle to include reintegration. The comprehensive program has served thousands of Service Members, Commanders, Family members, Employers and Communities through education, support, crisis intervention, and referrals. The 88th RRC Surgeon's Office Combat Operational Stress Control (COSC) Team provides a comprehensive program of education, assessment, and brief intervention and referral to meet the behavioral health needs of Soldiers, Families, and the community. Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI)/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are the signature injuries of the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Kayla Williams is a former sergeant and Arabic linguist in a Military Intelligence company of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). During her deployment to Iraq, Williams was at the forefront of troops' interaction with Iraqis while also navigating the challenges of being part of the 15% of the Army that is female. Kayla is the author of Love My Rifle More Than You: Young and Female in the U.S. Army, a memoir about her experiences negotiating the changing demands on today's military. Ms. Williams graduated cum laude with a BA in English Literature from Bowling Green State University, and earned her Masters in International Affairs with a focus on the Middle East from American University. She currently lives near Washington, D.C. with her husband Brian McGough, a fellow veteran.
