Kimberly A. Arlinghaus, MD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences as well as Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She completed her psychiatry residency in 1990 at Baylor, launching her neuropsychiatric career as the Director of Psychiatric Services at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research where her interest in brain/behavior relationships began. In 1995 she moved to the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center where she currently serves as Medical Director of the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence and Interim Associate Director for Clinical Services in the South Central Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC). One of her greatest passions is contributing to efforts that optimize the mental health of women, particularly women Veterans. Dr. Arlinghaus has 20 years of experience as a neuropsychiatrist and she is very proud of being voted "Best Doctor" by her peers at a national level over the past 6 years.



Dr. Stephanie Covington

Dr. Stephanie Covington is a clinician, author, organizational consultant, and lecturer. She is recognized for her pioneering work on women's issues and specializes in the development and implementation of gender-responsive services. Her seminars on addiction, trauma, sexuality, families, and relationships have a practical and sensitive approach and provide an opportunity to learn new skills in dealing with personal, institutional, and societal changes in the 21st century. Dr Covington has published extensively including the development of three evidence-based manualized treatment curricula that are used to provided women’s services in many treatment facilities in the US, Canada, and Europe. Dr. Covington has been the Chair of the Women's Committee of the International Council on Alcoholism and Addiction. She is a board-certified Diplomat of the National Association of Social Workers, the American Board of Sexology, the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists, and a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. She is also a member of SAMHSA’s Advisory Council for Women Services.

Tania Glenn is the President of Tania Glenn and Associates, PA, a clinical private practice in Austin, Texas. Tania has served as a counselor for over seventeen years and specializes in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, marital issues, and attachment disorders. Tania works with individuals (adults and children), couples and families. Tania has also done extensive work with public safety and military individuals, couples and families. She specializes in trauma and is a Certified Trauma Specialist. In her practice, Tania has worked with law enforcement, fire, EMS, military and aviation professionals, and has helped many individuals with their recovery from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. She has developed the traumatic stress management program and now serves as the Traumatic Stress Management Coordinator for Austin/Travis County Emergency Medical Services. Tania is a faculty member and trained trainer for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. Her prior experience includes work as an Emergency Room Medical Social Worker at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin for ten years.

Tania also has extensive experience as a consultant and trainer. The Readiness Action Division of Tania Glenn & Associates provides trauma-based prevention and intervention services, workplace violence prevention and intervention, crew resource management, workplace cultural analyses and team building.

Tania is the Clinical Director of the Surface to Air Response Team, the US Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine Critical Incident Response Team and the Southwest Airlines Critical Incident Response Team. Her background experience includes providing traumatic stress management services after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, the Jarrell tornado in 1997, the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005 and numerous other incidents including line of duty deaths and suicides of emergency personnel. Tania has written numerous articles and is a regular contributor to Air Beat, the journal of the Airborne Law Enforcement Association. In 2006 Tania was featured in "Between Iraq and a Hard Place," a documentary on traumatic stress in the military

Tania currently serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Brattleboro Hospital Uniformed Services Worker's Retreat in Brattleboro, VT. She has served as a member of the Safety Committee for Austin's air medical and air rescue program, STAR Flight. Tania is also a previous Board Member of the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists.

Tania received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from The University of Texas in Austin, and her Doctorate from California Coast University. She also attended the Austin Police Academy in 1998. Tania has completed ten marathons, including the Boston Marathon.

Dottie Natal has over 20 years experience in developing state-of-the-art technology for use in health care, prevention services and educational settings. Ms. Natal uses both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to design products that facilitate learning, provide educational opportunities, and support data collection and dissemination. Working with various Federal agencies, such as the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), the Department of Education, as well as many state agencies in various states, Ms. Natal has developed a strong understanding of how data needs to flow to provide useful feedback to state and Federal agencies as well as back to the community organizations. Systems that support data collection and information dissemination are key elements in the design of website portal systems that she has designed. Natal developed The Woman’s Heart web portal system which provides web-based, localized support to the alcohol and drug recovery community; used for a national roll out requiring a high level of scalability, reliability, and security. The system includes capacity for web-based peer support, counseling, and recovery services, and is capable of supporting a defined client intake process for matching clients with services meeting specific needs based on interests, availability, and service levels.

Dr. Platoni has been a practicing clinical psychologist for 25 years and maintained her private practice in Centerville, Ohio until the time of her third voluntary deployment to active duty Army status in October of 2004. She served as commander of the 1972nd Medical Detachment (Combat Stress Control) at Guantanamo Bay Cuba from 2003-2004, where combat stress control became a critical element of the Joint Task Force mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Global War on Terrorism. Having volunteered to return to active duty within weeks of her redeployment from Joint Task Force-GTMO, Dr. Platoni deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, holding the position of Deputy Commander of Clinical Services for the 55th Medical Company (CSC) in Baghdad and seven subsequent locations, finally as Officer in Charge of Team Ar Ramadi, situated the seat of the insurgency and during times of intensive combat. At the invitation of the 3rd Brigade Commander, 3rd Infantry Division upon the conclusion of her tour of duty in the wartime theater, Dr. Platoni reported to the Home of the Infantry, Fort Benning, Georgia for an additional six month mission in order to provide for the reintegration services of the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment due to elevated numbers of psychological casualties among combat arms soldiers.

Dr. Platoni is a graduate of the School of Professional Psychology of Nova University (now Nova Southeastern University) in Davie, Florida. Subsequent to the conclusion of her doctoral studies under the auspices of the United States Army's Health Professionals Scholarship Program, she completed her internship on active duty Army status at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas in 1984. From 1984 through 1987, she served as Chief of Psychology at DeWitt Army Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. During her 27 years of both active and Army Reserve status, including a six month tour of duty during Operation Desert Storm, Dr. Platoni developed combat stress control, debriefings and crisis management programs utilized throughout the U.S. Army. As a graduate of the Army's Command and General Staff College, she holds the rank of Colonel and is presently assigned to the 307th Medical Group, based in Blacklick, Ohio.


Dr. Platoni holds appointments as Assistant Clinical Professor with the School of Professional Psychology, Wright State University. She is a skilled hypnotherapist and possesses expertise in the sub-specialty areas of behavioral medicine and the treatment of chronic pain and chronic, debilitating, and terminal illnesses. Since the “9/11” tragedy and attacks on the United States, Dr. Platoni also voluntarily deployed to New York City on two occasions in order to provide disaster mental health and critical incident stress debriefing services to members of the New York City Police Department.

LTC Rasmussen has been mobilized for 3 years as a member of the Combat Stress Control Team at the 88th Regional Readiness Command (RRC), the Army Reserve Command for Service Members in six Midwestern states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois). This team is organized to care for the mental health needs of the service members and families in the region during the entire deployment cycle to include reintegration. The comprehensive program has served thousands of Service Members, Commanders, Family members, Employers and Communities through education, support, crisis intervention, and referrals. The 88th RRC Surgeon's Office Combat Operational Stress Control (COSC) Team provides a comprehensive program of education, assessment, and brief intervention and referral to meet the behavioral health needs of Soldiers, Families, and the community. Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI)/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are the signature injuries of the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Dr. Van Dahlen Romberg is a licensed clinical psychologist, practicing in the Washington, D.C., area for 18 years, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of children. Dr. Van Dahlen Romberg has spent her career interacting with and coordinating services within large systems, including school districts and mental health clinics. She served as an adjunct faculty member at George Washington University, where she participated in the training and supervision of developing clinicians. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland in 1991, her M.A. in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland in 1987, and her B.A., summa cum laude, in psychology from California State College in 1982.

Ms. Smith is the Director of the Women’s Center at Pine Grove Behavioral Health & Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, MS. Her position currently involves development and implementation of treatment program services, clinical staff development, and administration within the context of Forrest General Hospital. She has previously worked at The Meadows Treatment Center and at Remuda Ranch Treatment Centers for Anorexia and Bulimia, both located in Wickenburg, AZ. Within these three programs, she worked with individuals notable in the field, including Stephanie Covington, Patrick Carnes, John Bradshaw, Claudia Black, Terrance Real, and Pia Mellody. Ms. Smith is also a frequently requested national speaker and has conducted professional training, and seminars, on topics such as trauma resolution, sexual compulsivity, eating disorders, and intensive couple’s workshops.

Cortney S. Warren, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Majoring in Psychology and Spanish, Dr. Warren received her Bachelor's Degree at Macalester College (Saint Paul, MN) in 2000. While at Macalester, Dr. Warren completed her first independent research project, which investigated the effects of viewing diet-commercials on eating behavior and body image in women, and gained important clinical experience studying abroad at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. As her interest and commitment to exploring sociocultural aspects of eating pathology deepened, Dr. Warren pursued a graduate degree in clinical psychology at Texas A&M University. After completing her predoctoral clinical internship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Dr. Warren earned her doctorate in 2006.

Drawing from clinical, social, and cross-cultural psychology, Dr. Warrens' research explores the influence of socio-cultural factors on the development, maintenance, and perpetuation of eating disorder symptomatology. Specifically, the majority of her research explores the influence of multicultural factors (e. g., ethnicity, ethnic identity, racial identity, acculturation) on eating pathology in different ethnic groups; the effects of exposure to sociocultural agents (e.g., the media) on eating behavior and body image using experimental methodology; and, the psychometric evaluation of body image measures for ethnically, racially and linguistically-diverse (Spanish-speaking) groups.

Sherry Young

Dr. Young holds an interdisciplinary doctorate in psychology and literature with diverse experience teaching and directing international study programs; operations management and marketing experience in start-up growth businesses; and recovery, sponsorship, and service. She currently focuses on national clinical education and marketing for a poly-addiction treatment center that deals with challenging patients struggling with addiction coupled with co-morbid psychiatric mood disorders. Dr. Young has developed a trusted national network of collaborative relationships for cross referral and support of patients with trauma and addiction.
